Editorial

As a woman living in Great Britain I am tired of being seen as useless and lazy compared to the men who are fighting overseas. All of the housewives who are back here in England holding everything together are not being given enough credit. When food rationing began in early 1918, and we were forced to give up our valuable meats and sugars, it was the women who made it a priority to go out and get jobs so that we could continue to provide for our families even when our husbands were gone. I can see things changing as women are being given more rights as we begin to fill the sports of the soldiers who have gone off to war, but that shouldn't all disappear when the war is over. And what about the select few strong girls who actually are out there fighting in the front lines? There were some women in the army who had the roles of snipers, military police, and the tank crew. Every woman has an important role in this war effort and it's time that we get the praise we deserve.
